David Conyers is an Australian author of science fiction and dark fiction, residing in Sydney. His publications are found in the numerous anthologies, speculative fiction magazines and journals. Between 2004 and 2006 he was the Associate Editor for Book of Dark Wisdom and today he is a columnist for Albedo One. David has been short-listed for the Aeon Award in Ireland and the Ditmar, Australian Shadows and Aurealis Award in Australia, and won the Australian Horror Writers Association Flash Fiction Award. His first novel The Spiraling Worm co-authored with John Sunseri.

News

February 28, 2010: David Conyers, along with Jason Fischer and David Kernot will edited Issue 6 of the Australian Horror Writers Association's magazine, Midnight Echo due for release in 2011. This issue will be a science fiction horror theme and details of what the editors are looking for can be found here. Submissions will be accepted later in the year.

February 16, 2010:  Scenes from the Second Storey from Morrigan Books features David’s horror short story “Dream Machine”. The collection is edited by Amanda Pillar and Pete Kempshall, and is inspired by the God Machine album of the same name.

February 5, 2010: David is micro-interviewed mirco-interviewed by Innsmouth Free Press where he talks about his inspiration for his short story “The Swelling” appearing on their website, and talks about his favorite Lovecraftian movie and an upcoming anthology he is currently editing with Brian M. Sammons.

February 1, 2010: David appears in the magazine of Innsmouth Free Press issue 3, with a reprint of his King in Yellow tale “The Swelling”. The magazine is produced by Silvia Moreno-Garcia (Publisher) and Paula R. Stiles (Editor-in-Chief). Download the Issue here as a PDF or read the story online here.

January 15, 2010: Two of David’s Call of Cthulhu role-playing game supplements, Secrets of Kenya and Terrors from Beyond, are published by French gaming company, Sans Detour as Les Secrets du Kenya and Terreurs de l'au Dela respectively. He will soon be appearing in the French translation of Secrets of San Francisco, entitled Les Secrets de San-Francisco. These books mark David’s first books to be translated into the French.

11 November 2009: Read and interview with David at Innsmouth Free Press where he talks about his inspiration, Lovecraft and the Cthulhu Mythos, current projects, Harrison Peel and The Spiraling Worm, favorite writers, editing and the Australian speculative fiction community.

18 October 2009: Issue 37 of Ireland's speculative fiction magazine Albedo One has just been released and includes David's interview with leading Australian science fiction author Greg Egan. The issue also features several of David's reviews for Voices edited by Mark S. Deniz and Amanda Pillar and The New Space Opera edited by Gardner Dozois and Jonathan Strahan

3 October 2009: David's award winning shorty story "Homo Canis" receives an Honorable Mentions in Best Horror of the Year Volume One edited by Ellen Datlow.

19 September 2009: "The Octagon" by David Conyers appears in Jupiter issue 26 Isonoe, a science fiction tale about reality game shows.

11 September 2009: David will be attending GenCon Australia as a guest this year, held at the Brisbane Exhibition Centre 18-20 September. David will be speaking at various seminars and presenting a demonstation Call of Cthulhu role-playing game scenario. Full details of his schedule can be found here.

31 August 2009: David sells his second story to Andromeda Spaceways Inflight Magazine, a short scienece fiction tale called "Emergency Rebuild" which will appear in Issue 43.
